Cornelis Bouter was born in 1888 in Gouda, Holland.  He specialized in painting traditional scenes of Holland, both interior family scenes and landscapes.

Bouter is known by several pseudonyms including C. Verschuur, C. Willems, and C. Hendriks.

He lived primarily in Holland, between La Haye and Voorburg, though he traveled to and spent significant time in the United States and Canada.  Bouter’s paintings have sold in New York, London, Toronto, Montreal, Amsterdam, Cologne and Chester.
