Romanian-born Manuela Moldovan lives and works from her home studio in Toronto.
She is a self-taught mixed media collage artist and an elected member of the Colour and Form Society.
Her artworks are a true homage to life, dynamism, and movement, inspiring the viewer.
For me, art has been a passion since a very young age. I like the freedom to
work with colors, imagine, seek, and connect with nature.
Traveling around the world has allowed me to ignite my passion for
photography. Slowly, my thinking and creativity process grew up. I started
inserting in my acrylic or cold wax/oil artworks small parts from my
photographs. It became an exciting process because any detail of my
surroundings could be a source of inspiration.
In my current practice, I use a variety of materials: oil, cold wax, Japanese
paper, sand, ink, prints, and different textiles. I adore building lavish layers,
depth, and texture.
In her artworks, the aquatic element frequently returns, like an obsession.
Her spirit is bright, solar, and it is reflected in most of the paintings.
Whether it’s a cold but sunny November day or a bright spring day, her intention is to introduce a
moment, a state of mind, a simple invitation to experience nature.
